The Pioneer Gascoyne hard floor off road camper trailer is loaded with features from the bigger tent, galley kitchen, hot shower, Redarc Manager 30 battery management system, dual batteries, huge 120 litre water tank and Pioneer’s rugged chassis with independent coil suspension.
Inside the Gascoyne is a comfortable place to be, sheltered from the elements by premium Australian canvas. A queen size inner spring mattress awaits on a breathable slatted base and leatherette lining on the bedhead and surrounds adds to the feeling of comfort. Outer visibility is excellent with clear café blinds around the bed providing good natural light when it’s wet outside.
The bed is flanked by reading lights on flexible storks. There’s also a courtesy light and step at the foot of the bed and 240V, 12V and USB sockets nearby to power your devices.
Keeping you humming, a three speaker multimedia sound system is fitted with CD Tuner, USB, SD card, Bluetooth inputs and exterior remote control.
After a long day, nothing beats a hot shower to help unwind. A Truma gas hot water system is plumbed to both the kitchen and shower providing that extra level of luxury when remote camping.
A handy 20L bedhead storage compartment keeps your personal items organised. Over 560L of storage is available under the bed including a drop in storage box. Under bed storage is accessible through the rear boot when the camper is closed.
The range topping Pioneer Gascoyne comes with a fully equipped roll-out galley style kitchen. It uses a sliding sink and chopping boards to maximise the most amount of space for preparing and cooking food. A swing out 2-burner stove with glass splashback rests beside the camper, keeping the food preparation areas together. The kitchen incorporates a cutlery drawer and a tong drawer and a 135 litre, two drawer slide out pantry. Alternatively, you can select any kitchen you prefer from the Pioneer range.
A huge 600 litre fridge storage box swallows a good sized fridge and can be accessed from both sides of the camper. The box comes complete with heavy duty slides, lighting and a dust filter keep the fridge breathing. The box has 12V and 240V power so you can connect your fridge and other appliances with ease.
Like all Pioneer Campers, premium Australian-made Wax Converters Textiles canvas is used, with the roof Dynaproofed to 14.9oz and walls to 10.9oz. The Gascoyne scores a double door which provides improved ventilation and improved views outside from the comfort of your camper. Midge and mosquito mesh screens on all doors and windows keep the interior itch-free.
The hard floor design keeps the floor off the ground, so you don’t need to worry about mud, water, dirt or other creepy crawlies getting in. Floorboard vinyl finish not only looks good but will stand up against hard off road use.
A solar reflective blanket is standard with A, B and C walls. You can option it up further with D and E wall, a kids room and ensuite.
Custom Paintwork and Canvas
In addition to the standard two tone Copper over Black bodywork and Sand or Light Grey canvas colours, you can choose from a preselected range for the ultimate customisation experience. See the camper configurator to check the various combinations.
Ease of Use
Being a hard floor camper means setting up for the night is easy. A front mounted winch helps guide the floor safely to the ground. However, an optional mechanical lift with dual gearbox takes ease of use to a new level. Simply turn the key and the floor pivots open or closed revealing a huge interior footprint of 1.7 by 5.3 meters.
Water is supplied by a 120L stainless steel, baffled water tank with 12V pump to the kitchen. An optional 60L tank is available. A hand pump nearby provides easy access during roadside stops. All water runs through a filter and a level indicator keeps track of reserves.
Batteries, Power, Lighting and Solar
The Pioneer Gascoyne has one of the best power systems in its class. It uses the premium Redarc Manager 30 Battery Management System to charge and monitor all inputs and outputs to the dual 110Ah AGM deep cycle batteries.
The system includes 30A 240V and DC-DC 12V chargers and a vehicle isolator to prevent accidental discharge of the starting battery. Supplementing these inputs, a dedicated solar socket feeds directly to a multi power point tracking (MPPT) solar regulator to extract the most charge from the available solar rays. This system ensures you get full utilisation from the available resources.
A monitoring panel with activity logs shows the incoming and outgoing activity as well as projected range based on existing discharge rates.
A 240V system is also standard with safety switch and sockets inside and out.
To provide power for 240V appliances when camping off the grid, a 1000W Pure Sine wave inverter coverts 12V power for use.
Body, Chassis, Suspension
Like every Pioneer camper, the Gascoyne comes standard with a hot dipped galvanized chassis with rear receiver. This can be used for recoveries or attaching a bike rack. The chassis rides on fully independent trailing arm coil suspension with shock absorbers connected by a Hitchmaster D035 All-terrain hitch.
Wheels and Brakes
For reliable off road explorations, the Gascoyne is fitted with 16 x 8″ black alloy rims and all terrain tyres plus a matching spare wheel. Twelve inch Alko electric drum brakes takes care of stopping duties.
A large compartment within the main body swallows 500L of gear that can be accessed from both sides of the camper. There’s also a separate, enclosed and lockable storage area for 3 jerry cans, two gas bottles and a utility area useful for firewood. Front facing panels are protected with Rhinocoat.
An upsized, 200mm deep Roof Storage Rack mounted atop the Fridge Box, perfect for when you have packed the kitchen sink!
