Offering the advantages of both a hard floor and hybrid off road camper trailer, the Pioneer Wilpena is a capable off road rig, boasting class leading interior room, ease of setup and all the essential comforts.
The key to an enjoyable holiday is comforts and the Wilpena delivers in the key areas. Hard walls and roof around the bed provide cosy, cocoon-like isolation from the elements. Yet the fold-out hard floor provides an airy sense of space. When it comes time for a deep slumber, a queen size mattress provides ample room to stretch out, while the breathable slatted base reduces condensation and discomfort. Large side windows and a skylight above provide for stargazing at night and allow good cross flow ventilation when it’s warm. Midge mesh and block out blinds protect against bug and sun invasion.
The bed is flanked by reading lights on flexible storks. There’s also a courtesy light and step at the foot of the bed and 240V, 12V and USB sockets nearby to power all your devices.
There’s plenty of storage for all your belongings. Lift the bed, guided by gas struts, for easy access to the area below, which is also accessible through the rear boot when the camper is closed. The hutch behind the pillows provide access to the top drawer of the pantry.
The Wilpena Hardfloor Camper Trailer comes fully equipped with a stainless steel roll out kitchen with three burner stove, food preparation area, cutlery drawer and a two drawer pantry.
A huge 700 litre fridge storage box swallows a large fridge. It can be accessed from both sides of the camper and is fitted with heavy duty slides, 240V/12V power, lighting and a dust filter which helps the fridge breathe.
Canvas, Tent and Flooring
The Wilpena has a composite floor construction lined with floorboard vinyl that not only looks good but is hard wearing too. The roof is solid fibreglass and lined with a durable headlining. A quick half size awning is standard or you can option a full length two metre wide awning.
Custom Paintwork and Canvas
In addition to the standard two tone Silver over Black bodywork and Dark Grey canvas colours, you can choose from a preselected range for the ultimate customisation experience. See the camper configurator to check the various combinations.
Ease of Use
The Wilpena is a cinch to setup. With the canvas integrated into the floor, the tent can be setup within four easy movements. Put simply, it’s quicker with less effort involved and there’s no constant bending over to attach the canvas to the floor. In fact, the tent, kitchen and awning can be setup in only 3 minutes. Water is supplied by a 90L stainless steel, baffled water tank with 12V pump to the kitchen, with the option to upgrade to a 120 litre tank. An optional 60L second tank is also available. For convenience, a hand pump nearby provides easy access for roadside stops. All water runs through a filter and a level indicator keeps track of reserves.
Batteries, Power, Lighting & Solar
The Pioneer Wilpena has one of the best power systems in its class. It uses the premium Redarc Manager 15 Battery Management System to charge and monitor all inputs and outputs to the 110Ah AGM deep cycle battery. A second battery is available as an option.
The system includes 15A 240V and DC-DC 12V chargers and a vehicle isolator to prevent accidental discharge of the starting battery. Supplementing these inputs, a dedicated solar socket feeds directly to a multi power point tracking (MPPT) solar regulator to extract the most charge from the available solar rays. This system ensures you get full utilisation from the available resources.
A monitoring panel with activity logs shows the incoming and outgoing activity as well as a projected range based on existing discharge rates.
A 240V system is also standard with safety switch and sockets inside and out.
Body, Chassis & Suspension
Like every Pioneer camper, the Wilpena comes standard with a hot dipped galvanized chassis with rear receiver. This can be used for recoveries or attaching a bike rack. The chassis rides on fully independent trailing arm coil suspension with shock absorbers. A Trigg hitch couples to the tow vehicle for off road explorations.
Wheels & Brakes
For reliable off road explorations, the Wilpena is fitted with 16 x 7″ Sunraysia steel rims all terrain tyres. with a matching spare wheel. Twelve inch Alko electric drum brakes take care of stopping duties.
A large compartment within the main body swallows 415L of gear which can be accessed from both sides of the camper. On the kitchen side, a 145L slide out internal/external pantry accommodates pots, pans and condiments.
Up front, there’s a separate, enclosed and lockable storage area for 3 jerry cans, two 9kg gas bottles and a utility area useful for firewood. Front facing panels are protected with Rhinocoat. Lastly, there’s a 340L top storage box positioned above the fridge box which is good for canvas and awning mats.
