folding solar panel, Projecta SPM120K

Projecta is fitted as standard equipment in our Rhinomax Campers and Pod Trailer ranges. Two of our favourite Projecta touring accessories are:

  • Intelli-charge IDC25 25A DC Solar Charger; and
  • SPM Folding Solar Panel Kits – available in 80W, 120W and 180W

Projecta Intelli-charge IDC25 25A DC Solar Charger

A DC DC charger like the IDC25 charges your AGM batteries quickly to 100% as you travel, making it ideal for a touring holiday where you move camp on a regular basis. In comparison, Anderson plug charging may only achieve 75-80% charge, diminishing battery utilisation.

As a bonus, the IDC25 also has a Multi Power Point Tracking (MPPT) Solar Regulator, boosting solar charging by up to 25%. For greatest efficiency, a solar regulator should be as close to the battery as possible, so linking portable solar panels to an onboard solar regulator such as the Projecta IDC25 will result in improved gains, but you will need to fit a solar panel regulator override. We can supply this at purchase, so you get the best of both worlds – using your panel and standard panel mounted regulator with your vehicle and the panel with the regulator override on your camper, the one fitted with the IDC25.

Projecta SPM 120W Folding Solar Panel Kits

The folding solar panel kits are compact, light in weight and easy for anyone to move around the campsite and with good sizes to keep you off the grid for longer.

Projecta’s Monocrystalline Solar Panel Kits feature a frameless design that folds up into a compact 36cm x 50cm bag. Weighing only 5–7kg, the panels are housed in durable canvas making them travel-safe and easy to pack into your boot or trailer. A hard fibreglass backing allows the panels to be angled towards the sun for optimum performance. Includes support legs, in-built 8.5 Amp solar controller and 5m lead with battery clips.

A 120W unit is a good size for most applications providing plenty of charge to run a fridge and a couple of lights. Remember you need an independent AGM battery to run a fridge reliably. You can’t rely on the starting battery in your vehicle. Talk to us if you need more information.
